Hakodate is a small but very exciting city, with many sights to see and an abundance of amazing restaurants.If you like something different try Lucky Pierrot, or take the  Hakodateyama ropeway up the mount for a breath taking view of this hidden treasure, the ropeway car departs from the Motomachi District. The ropeway's lower station can be reached in a 10 minute walk from the "Jujigai" tram stop or by direct Hakodate Bus from Hakodate Station. for the early riser there is the morning market, with over 350 stall operation daily.
Don't forget  that Chika is available for private transportation if you like a private tour by car up the mountain, but you need to book in advance.

MORNING MARKET

Morning Market (朝市 asa-ichi) Crammed into a couple of bayfront buildings, rows of vendors sell a variety of seafood, but the main attraction is the huge selection of Hokkaidō's famous crabs. Open 5 AM (6 AM in the winter) until noon. Next to the market are a number of restaurants, most of which specialize in seafood-topped donburi (rice bowl). Near the JR Station and the streetcar Hakodate Eki-mae (函館駅前) stop.

FORT GORYOKAKU

Goryokaku is a star-shaped fort which was built in 1866. It was the first Western-style fort built in Japan. The surrounding area is now a large park. There are more than 1,500 sakura trees and they are illuminated at night during the blooming season..
